Question by N V: Can my laptop be identified while connected to a wireless network?
I’m using a personal laptop on a company wireless network. Can my laptop and personal information be identified by the wireless admin?

No. Because someone would have to be looking for it and nobody cares to look that hard for anything. Why, Is it stolen?

  4. Sure it can! He can see your mac address right away. If he is shrewd, he can see any text files you send or receive.

  6. Yes. Depending on how big the company is, they may have you on lockdown. Watch what you do on work computers.

  7. All the wireless networks have trackers that records where you’ve been to on the web and how long and when you use the internet while its on that connection. It’s al part of that agreement thing they say to you. The records are kept for police investigations in case of plotted assasination, murder,terrorism etc.

    yes it is possible…your ip address would be traceable unless you have a torr to block it, but even that only blocks the ip address i don’t know about spyware or anything lke that which would make your personal information vulnerable. You are never really safe.

  9. The moment your laptop is connected to a router, your ID of your network will be logged, in other words the hardware mac address could be monitored if the router has a program design for recording.

    Otherwise, it only logged in with your network address static IP.
    If you turn ‘ON’ your firewall, you are able to deny..

  10. The wireless network has to know your IP to communicate. Since most network admins record all log-ons, I’m gonna say yes.
