Question by Xhinn: How can I control access to my wireless internet connection?
My router is a Linksys WRT54G2 V1 which you can use to add wireless access to a cable connection. Isn’t it supposed to have a software to control who can use wireless access? Where can I download the software? A friend only gave the router to me so I don’t know what the complete purchase package contains.

Wireless routers are typically controlled through a web browser, type in http://192.168.1.1/ into your browser. A web page about your router and settings should pop up. From that point there should be options to change security settings, like set up a WPA or WEP password phrase and change your SSID (The name of your network).
Your router might require a password to access the settings, try to find your password on:
routerpasswords.com

You should enable wireless encryption with pre-shared key (WPA2 is the best) on wireless router, so only the person that knows the key could connect to your wireless network. This is an example of how to configure it: http://www.home-network-help.com/wireless-router.html
