Give your answer to this question below!
Linksys WRT54G, its the best ull get for your money
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=5250774&st=Linksys+WRT54G&type=product&id=1051384663529
And to setup the router, u will need to plug-in your computer manually into it. I do advise encrypting it (ull see it in the setup) because, especially in apartment buildings, somebody will try to connect to the router, and if its not encrypted, ure screwed. Also, depending on the size of the apartment, u may wanna ask the store guy if they sell Range Booster Antennas (hell know what it means.)
Never mind CHEAP, go with LinkSys.
Try this one from NewEgg
LINKSYS WRT55AG IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.11a, IEEE 802.11g, IEEE 802.11b Dual-Band Wireless A+G Broadband Router – $ 44.99

Good luck and Happy Computing!
go to wal mart and you can find an inexpensive router for about $ 35.00 made by belkin. It is very easy to install. it take about 10 minutes or less.
I prefer Linksys routers but most of them are roughly equivalent. Get a CAT5 cable with it however so that if you do need to directly access the router you will be able to do so with your notebook.
Range of the router generally isn’t of huge importance in an apartment since they’re not typically that large. A standard wireless router works fine in our well over 2100 square foot home and provides access well out into the yard. Locate the router high near the ceiling as they have an umbrella effect – the higher they are located the wider field of coverage they provide, to a limit.
Be sure to Read The Fine Manual that comes with the router, change default passwords, and enable security otherwise anyone will be able to access your connection – and possibly compromise your computer – and you will be liable for their actions while using Your connection.
Assumption: You are located near a CompUSA or don’t mind buying one of the net.
Comp USA has been selling this router AFTER rebate for $ 4.99. I know my friend uses it as a wireless router and I have not heard him complain.
It does have 84% approval rating after 130+ reviews.
Hope this helps — Mike
I bought a Buffalo Wireless -G 125 broadband router & access point. It cost 50 $ and there was a rebate of 25 $ [ at the time ]. It works great and all over my house [ upstairs and down ] i bought it at Circuit City but you can get it at Best Buy also.
Many responders have recommended the Linksys (especially the WRT54G family). I agree.
I also agree with the responded who pointed you to http://www.newegg.com to purchase it from. I probably buy 80% of my stuff from newegg. Good prices and quick shipping.
You can get a FREE Linksys WRT54G by answering some advertisements. And then some annoying emails.
Best router is Linksys. try to look for a used one.
Two $ 50 routers come to mind, the FON router and the Meraki router (links below). If you don’t have Internet service yet AT&T sells a wireless router for $ 80 with a $ 50 rebate, net cost $ 30. Questions, do you have an internet access now? with an ethernet connection? Is your laptop Wifi B/G capable? The good news is that an ethernet port is the standard connection on most access routers and most modern laptops have built-in Wifi B or G. Both routers mentioned have ethernet ports for connection and allow you to access your Internet connection by wireless link from anywhere at home. Both use automatic configuration (DHCP) to setup both the internet access connection and the wireless access port for you to connect your laptop to. One last point, they each have good telephone support desks for you to call to for assistance if needed.
D-Link DIR-655.
$ 130 or so USA price.
Fast.
Reliable.
Great Ratings.
