Question by JOHN B: Network Card Problem, How do I fix it.?
Dimension E52 with integrated Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller shown in device manager, also Broadcom-Packet scheduler miniport. Also shows Direct Parrellel, MS Tun Miniport Adaptor, RAS Async Adaptor, Wan Miniport (IP) (L2TP)(PPEO)(PPTP) all under Network Adaptors with Exclamations by them, If I try to uninstall them it refuses saying these are needed for boot. The only ones I can uninstall are the 2 broadcoms.
What I tried…
Tried removeing them and reinstalling them same problems, tried updateing driver to them, same problems afterward, but it looks like it is using the new driver.
Tried Restore point to an earlier time, Restores look like they go through but when it reboots after, it says restore did not take.
Tried netsh int ip reset and netsh winsock reset, to reset TCP/IP, no worky.
Tried WinsockXPFix, which is supposed to reset the stack. Nada.
Any Ideas? I am running outta ammo.
Well here’s the update. Booted into safe mode, then was able to restore to a previous date via system restore. Bingo, all my issues were fixed then. Created a Fresh Restore Point afterwards.

Your computer may have suffered hardware failure. If you have an available slot and spare network card (NIC) try installing it to see if it will work. This will help in determining if it is a simple software issue or a hardware issue. Either way you may have exhausted what you as a user can reasonably expect to correct and require a computer repair tech.
