Question by David T: My USB Ethernet adapter is unsupported on my computer, how can I change that?
I am trying to connect an older computer (no ethernet plug but has some usb) to my linksys router.
Okay so I narrow down the problem :
my cable modem and old computer works fine without the router but I need the extra slot from it. I can’t seem to get the router to work for the old computer.
The cord works fine.

What is the OS of computer, check it matches with the adapter, you could try a search online for driver for adaptor.

From your post it would seem that without an ethernet cable you would be using USB to connect to the modem? That being the case then your OS supports USB at least, if you cannot find the right drivers online then If the old computer is a desktop buy a PCI network card and install it. If it is a laptop look for PCMCIA cards.
Is the USB network just not recognised or is it not working?
