Question by buggeredmom: Need some step by step instructions for adding a PC to my home network.?
My new main PC is set up for a network (it works). I use a Linksys wireless router. I have set up our old pc in a bedroom and want to add it to the network. I am using a Netgear USB wireless adapter for that. It picks up the signals. I was able to select the proper SSID and key in the wep code.
Now, I need to know how to get the old pc online. When I use Linksys’ (add a computer to this network) software it wants me to 1) connect (wire) the pcs to load a program 2) use a portable USB storage device or 3) enter information manually while loading the cd that came with the computer I am trying to add to the network.
I am new to this. I don’t have any software that come with the old pc. So, I guess I’m left with a portable device or a really long cable.
Which one and where do I go from there?
Thanks!

Forget the cd that comes with the linksys router. I need to know which operating system you’re using on the old pc. That way I can give you step by step instructions. Email me if you’d like.
