Question by Leslie L: Paranoid dummy needs help: Why are weird networks appearing (on Vista) for my wireless laptop?
Ever since my new upstairs neighbor moved in, I see a new network showing up on my list. I delete it, and it comes back again. In fact, there have been two (“burns” and “paul”). The neighbor runs xbox. Of course, I am probably taking the concurrence of these events as cause and effect, which is faulty logic, I know. I don’t know anything about security of wireless networks, so after my fiddling about with security types, now I can’t even get on using wireless with my own network. What a mess. But, how can I fix this so I can run wireless again? I am a dummy with a suspicious mind, I admit it.

Having other networks show up in your network list is normal, once you have a wireless device, whether it’s a desktop or laptop, no need to worry, but if you locked yourself out of your own network then you can reset your wireless router to factory settings, most routers have a reset button somewhere

Your wireless will always show you the networks it detects in your area, it’s nothing to worry about, as long as your network is secure. You need to choose 1 type of security, WPA, WEP, whatever and then just use that.
why spend money on a laptop when you can get it for free? just go to this site and complete a few quick tasks and they’ll send you a sony vaio laptop at no charge!
Windows ususally assigns a default workgroup name of MShome for its home networking setup wizard. thus you are finding the. Try changing your computers/laptops workgroup to something. You might solve your problem
