Question by mcnnowak: What is the best router for a comcast home network with three computers and an xbox hooked up with long wires?
My internet is really bad and i think it might be our router… its the one that comes stock when you get comcast internet.
Oh yeah and we have really fast internet sometimes on the computers but on my xbox it really sucks.

the time capsule by apple, is a strong power base station that is also a wireless hard drive for backing up. the airport extreme is just the wifi portion. they work with mac and pc

You don’t need a new router, just put the dd-wrt firmware on the one you’ve got, and it will work perfectly.

The problem with the slow internet may not be a hardware issue. It could be a problem with your current router’s configuration. It would be best if you found someone nearby who has experience with networking to have a look at your router’s settings.
My preference is a Linksys router. You can’t beat those routers and you can flash them with a better firmware. Here are my suggestions.
Set up QOS on your router. This will help you set up priorities to your xbox when its online it gets all the juice.
