I’m not quite sure if I undrstand but did you type in
192.168.1.1 into the address bar to do the set up. With a router
WPA is more secure tham WEP you may want to check it out.
default user name admin default password admin
information is for setting up a router using XP
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/moredone/wirelesssetup.mspx
It gives the passwords and user set up names.
A pdf manual should be on your set up disk or you can obtain it from the linksys site

WEP is such weak security, you really need to set up WPA. Call Linksys at 1-800-326-7114 and press the phone number for wireless. You’ll get a tech who will talk you through setting up good security on your wireless network. And the last thing you do before you hang up is have them tell you how to stop broadcasting a signal. That way, anyone who wants to piggyback on your wireless can’t find it.
Which version of Linksys Router are you using? If it is WRT54G(one of the most popular ones), you have to go to http://192.168.1.1. Most probably, username and password should be admin and admin. Click on Wireless and then On Wireless Security. From the dropdown list of Security Mode Select WEP. Click on Save Settings and you are done.
